Free calculators for military pay and PCS planning: housing allowance, retirement savings, salary, VA loan affordability, deployment savings, and military spouse state taxes.
18 calculators, split by what they are about. Two concern a move that is already happening: the PCS move cost calculator for what a set of orders pays, and the TLE calculator for the hotel between quarters. Two publish the underlying figures rather than computing with them — the 2026 rates tables and the weight allowance chart. The rest concern the assignment itself: what the housing allowance covers at the new installation, what the pay is worth once the untaxed portion is counted, what a career earns in pension and Thrift Savings Plan balance, and which state a military spouse owes income tax to.
Every figure comes from a published US government source. Basic pay from the DoD Financial Management Regulation and the DFAS pay tables; housing allowances from the Defense Travel Management Office, BAH in the United States and OHA overseas; per diem localities from GSA; PCS entitlements — Dislocation Allowance, mileage, travel days and weight allowances — from the Joint Travel Regulations; contribution limits from the IRS and fund performance from TSP.gov; commissary savings from DeCA's own published figures. The table below names the source behind each tool, and the rates page records when each family of rates was last checked against it.
All of them are free, need no sign-up and ask for no payment details. The calculators under this page run entirely in your browser. The PCS move cost calculator sends your move details to this site to compute a result and writes nothing to a database; what the site collects is set out in the privacy policy.

| 2026 PCS Rates | Every 2026 PCS rate the calculator computes with, published as tables rather than as a form to fill in. | JTR |
| Weight Allowance Chart | How many pounds of household goods a pay grade is authorized, with and without relocating dependents. | JTR Table 5-37 |
| Military Base Guides | What to expect at a specific installation — housing and BAH, the local area, and which allowance calculator applies there. | Defense Travel Management Office |
Two of these are about a move that is already happening. The PCS move cost calculator estimates what a set of orders pays — Dislocation Allowance, mileage, per diem and the incentive on a personally procured move — and the TLE calculator covers the hotel between quarters. If you want the underlying figures rather than an estimate for your own orders, the rates page publishes them as tables and the weight allowance chart covers household goods by pay grade. The rest answer questions about the assignment rather than the move: what the housing allowance covers at the new installation, what the pay is worth once the untaxed portion is counted, what a career earns in pension and Thrift Savings Plan balance, and which state a military spouse owes income tax to.
No. Every calculator on this site is free, needs no sign-up and asks for no payment details. The site is funded by advertising and affiliate links, which are disclosed where they appear. What information the site collects when you use a calculator is set out in the privacy policy.
All of them come from published US government sources. Basic pay comes from the DoD Financial Management Regulation and the DFAS pay tables; housing allowances from the Defense Travel Management Office, both BAH in the United States and OHA overseas; per diem localities from GSA; PCS entitlements — Dislocation Allowance, mileage, travel days, weight allowances — from the Joint Travel Regulations; contribution limits from the IRS and fund performance from TSP.gov; commissary savings from DeCA's own published figures. Each figure is traced to the document it came from rather than typed in beside the code that uses it, and the rates page shows when each family of rates was last checked against its source.
Some of them. The OHA calculator is the overseas one: Overseas Housing Allowance reimburses actual rent up to a ceiling rather than paying a flat rate, so renting below the ceiling forfeits the difference instead of saving it, and the calculator is built around that difference. The BAH calculator covers United States installations. The TLE calculator is for a CONUS move. Its overseas counterpart is Temporary Lodging Allowance, which runs on different rules and is not calculated here — the temporary lodging article explains which of the two applies to a given set of orders.
They are the 2026 figures. Pay and allowance tables are republished for each calendar year, so a January move and a December move in the same year use the same table. Two things run on their own clocks: the per diem figures follow the federal fiscal year and the ones here are the FY2026 rates, which run through 30 September 2026 and are then republished by GSA, and the mileage rate changes when the Department of Defense reissues it — the current one took effect 1 July 2026. The mileage rate that applies to a move is the one in effect on the day you travel, not the day the orders were cut, which is why the rates page keeps the superseded rate visible alongside the current one.
